Analytics without the banner. Here's exactly how.
Sam counts sessions, funnels and orders without cookies or anything stored in the browser. This page explains what we collect, how a session is made, and how an order finds its way back to the visit that started it.
One install, two sources of truth.A pixel for the journey, Shopify for the orders.
Install the Shopify app
Connect your store with Shopify's own login. The first account to connect becomes the owner; teammates join by invite.
Sam turns on its pixel
A web pixel records page views, product views, add-to-carts and checkouts. Sam also subscribes to your order webhooks.
Or paste a custom pixel
Prefer to do it by hand? Copy a snippet into Settings → Customer events in Shopify. No theme edits either way.
How a session is counted.
Sam hashes the visitor's IP, user agent and your store with a salt that changes every day. The result is the session key.
Nothing is written to the device, so there's nothing to ask consent for. The trade-off is deliberate: a shopper who comes back tomorrow is a new session.
Raw IP and user agent are never stored. Tomorrow the salt changes and the same shopper gets a new key.
How an order finds its session.Without cart attributes, cookies or order IDs.
- IN THE BROWSERCheckout startsThe pixel sends Sam the checkout token along with the session key.
- ON SAM'S SERVERToken is hashedOnly the hash is kept, tied to the session, and it expires after a short time.
- FROM SHOPIFYOrder webhook arrivesShopify tells Sam about the order. Sam hashes its checkout token the same way.
- MATCHOrder meets sessionSame hash, same checkout. The order is credited to that session and its campaign.
